Inspired by my wonderful Aunt Pat, this was written in 2007 for her 80th birthday.
She recently passed on, and was such a positive force and a truly loving person to us all.
May she find rest, peace and joy in her new world.
it was a time when men were steal,
when horses ran the roads and fields,
it’s this day that we adorn,
in 27, when Pat was born.
Rivers flowed from mountain streams,
down the valleys to freewater dreams,
work was hard for little pay,
they got by ok.
There’s so much for you to remember,
good times, friends and family,
the joy and wisdom of the ages,
is in your smile I believe.
grew up with her brother Dale,
five crazy uncles tall fish tales,
the carnival would come to town,
they got a dime for one ride down.
from the Blue Mountain foothills,
she grew up strong and oh so sure.
Sought the music of the ages,
marveled at the wonder of the world.
Then a good lookin sailor man swept her away to farm the land,
she took good care of the family with lots of advice from grandpa Lee.
she drove truck at harvest time loaded on the go from the ole combine.
Susan, Pegg, David, and John all grew up sound and strong
There’s so much for you to remember,
good times, friends and family,
the joy and wisdom of the ages,
is in your smile I believe.
it was a time when men were steal,
and horses ran the roads and fields,
it’s this day that we adorn,i
n 27 when Pat was born.
