MINIMAL JIM

Have you seen the web today?
They’ve found a cure for kings.
They’ve landed on the moon again
and probed thru Saturn’s rings.
In the hope of…
finding some,
answers to the questions,
from the minds of…
a billion people.
So I say to the man in love,
take it now,
or you’ll think,
you never
should of.
Dream the dream
to hold her near,
to feel her touch,
and never fear…
the words,
she says,
to you.
So they’ve found new galaxies,
at redshift 6.6,
from the long, long ago,
they’ve measured through the rift.
In the hope of,
finding some,
answers to the questions,
from the distance of…
a billion light years.
Be the friend,
to the end,
be the friend.
Be the ground,
solid and sound,
ah – be the ground.
Be the child,
free and wild,
ah – be the child.
Be the man,
do what you can,
ah – be the man.
——
Be the one that lives with color and grace.
Be free,
and far from the chains of hate.
Be the one that dreams by the light of the moon.
Take time,
don’t live your life to soon.
Send me down,
where it all began,
to the start-point of the age of man.
Indulge me now while I spin a tale,
of a complex time, of majestic scale.
Legends spawned, from war and peace,
from sacrifice, and selfless deeds.
The wisdom of the past is present,
The ancient cell,
is always with us.
——
Here’s to the cast of ages,
the thousand stages,
the endless living song.
Here’s to the sons and daughters,
to all the fathers,
to mothers,
everyone.
——
Send me down to a time of youth,
peel back time,
as a child’s truth.
Indulge me now
while I deviate,
and ask no questions,
just see and relate.
To the past, and present tense,
so good to be,
so good to exist.
There were times that I do regret,
but overall,
it’s been a damn good trip!
It was a dream he had,
of ancient mountain stone.
Of swelling glacial waters,
rolling to his home…
In the city streets,
the dawn
lights up the morning sky.
In far off lands he hears,
the lovers passion sigh…
High in the fantasy,
he spreads his arms as wings,
he looks up in the sky,
the mountains fill his eyes…
And you know the signs,
but you cannot feel,
you cannot feel
the high…
Saw the light like a distance star
rising over,
the crest of Mars…
Stranded there for a year I swear,
in the godless scape
of the Martian air.
Then in the distant low light dawn
we saw the ship
shadow the sun.
Bursting like a dust cloud fire
into the dawn,
the flames climbed higher and higher.
Dreams of my home haunt me in my sleep.
The valleys and rivers that I will never see.
It’s so alone,
we were ten and now we are three.
We live,
we survive,
as death waits patiently.
I can’t see by the light of the day.
lost my sight, my crew,
and lost my way.
I can’t feel in the tips of my toes.
last transmission sent to home.
I can hear the sands of the night.
as they blow sad,
they almost cry.
I see my wife and son like a dream
and now I will lay down to sleep…
We are more,
than the sum,
of the ones we descended from –
Life is the mystery you see..
in this world of pain and joy,
we play a part we never know,
always on a tangent of our dreams.
But it feels,
so –
good to be alive you know,
yes it feels,
so –
good to be alive you know.
We laugh, we cry, we sing…
we live, we die,
we dream…
give us strength to face our fears,
let me see it crystal clear,
free my mind just once before I go…
sometimes we love,
sometimes we hate
sometimes draw the hand of fate,
sometimes we know that trust is all we need.
But it feels,
so –
good to be alive you know,
yes it feels,
so –
good to be alive you know.
We laugh, we cry, we sing…
we live, we die,
we dream…
Crouched under branches,
the birds still sing,
as the summer rain,
dusts off the morning dreams.
Sounds from the street,
seep into the room,
as the lawn apparatus begin their debut.
The geometry of the ironing board,
reflects sunlight across your toes.
The scent of flowers as the rain subsides,
I feel your touch and the earth abides.
Then it begins,
I fall for you all over again.
There is no end,
just wanted you to know my friend.
Sometimes it hits you,
and you just can’t believe,
it was so simple,
so clear and clean.
Sometimes it’s insight
as the clue is revealed,
like a mystery novel,
in a page concealed.
You draw me in
and I drink in your muse
aged like a wine,
the taste of you.
Then it begins,
I fall in love all over again.
There is no end,
Just wanted you to know my friend
Jammed in a rush hour mess,
radio blaring as my thoughts digress.
Stop and go by the off-ramp light…
Urban art,
on the wall to my right.
In between the profane expressions;
these words stood out from the other suggestions.
———–
“I cannot believe the things I’ve seen
in the name of a man from Galilee.”
———–
Makes you think for a minute at best,
light turns and you quickly forget.
Forget the ones, that died before….
in bloody ages of religious wars.
———–
Sometimes it just appears to be,
some kind of pointless conspiracy.
Push the pills, feed the guilt and just deceive.
Dumb us down, make us numb till we concede.
———–
Jammed in a rush hour mess,
radio blaring as my thoughts digress.
Stop and go by the off ramp light…
Mind numbs,
day fades to night.
In between the profane expressions;
these words stood out from the other suggestions.
———–
“I cannot believe the things I’ve seen
in the name of a man from Galilee.”
Sometimes if you listen when you breathe,
you can feel the world
give you what you need…
Watchin the tv,
man it’s full of crazy’s…
B.S. for hours and hours each day.
Why we watch at all,
is the question,
I think..
maybe?
I’d give you an answer,
but my shows almost on…
(news anchor..)
This just in,
we all may die
in a meteor storm
from the crab nebulae.
The low life wars have just begun,
sponsored in part by…
religious guns.
Turned off the tube,
strolled down the pavement,
sun on my face,
just warm and brilliant.
Walked to the river,
stood there amazed
and…
as it flowed by, I just couldn’t help thinkin…
Sun feels fine,
the winds just so,
makes you feel like Mexico…
Sitting back on the beach with yours…
Just watching the waves roll in
to the shore..
